Lost Lake take 2

An (internal) injury ... just one sacrifice a boy must make when learning ninja turtle moves ...

Ruthie was quite the huckleberry picker!
(now we need to work on the bucket steadying skills, thus reducing spills)

Ruthie caught a fish!!! The men cleaned it out. Over a nice bowl of Jiffy Pop.

Not sure this picture does the situation justice. It was a hysterical sight to see from across the lake. "She" was rowing. "He" took the back seat. It appears as though her end should be a little better balanced ... are the sinking!?!?! Maybe that's why he wore a lifejacket.

We hiked All-The-Way-Around the lake ... 3.2 miles. It's funny that the Lost Lake website says "Allow yourself an hour to stop along the way and enjoy the splendid views of the Lake and Mount Hood" ... I'm certainly glad we allowed for about three hours ...
It's a long hike for little kids though, and we stopped for a long time to play at the waterdog dock!! And I'm certainly proud of them for sticking it out!

This picture is the loud and clear attitude Ruthie had when we finally made it back around to our campsite...

Three Dog Day
(yes, Morgan was finally invited on a vacation)

Sword In the Stone!?!!

Colton worked on some super fancy "ninja turtle moves" on the trail below our walk in site.

Papa Bear looking for honey

This blog title is "take 2" because we joined the Stranz campout at Lost Lake a few weeks after the Sawyer (JCCR) campout at Lost Lake was cut short when one of our dear children got sick. quite sick. I can't believe I packed a thermometer, but I'm glad I did because the temp was up to 101.9!! The timing of it all was such that we had hauled everything from the car to the campsite. Had camp set up. Enjoyed a couple of hours by the lake. And then hustled to pack everything back up and haul it out to the car. All in all ... a good workout ...
